 General Trip Information

Lodging and Meals

Teams will stay in a hotel in the outskirts of Havana.

Overseas Ground Transportation

We will be using vans or charter services for transportation while on your trip.

Currency

The currency is the Cuban Convertible Peso, (CUC).  The dollar value in terms of the peso varies from day to day.  We will let you know when and where you may exchange money.  It is best to exchange small amounts at a time.

Weather

The majority of Cuba enjoys beautiful tropical weather all year round, with the average annual temperature hovering around 77 degrees.  May is the beginning of the summer months and the beginning of the wet season; however, it is not the peak of either season.

Immunization Requirements

One of our most frequently asked questions is regarding shots.  Please make sure that you have an updated Tetanus shot.  The following vaccines are recommended by Cobb County Health Services.  They are not, however; required to go on the trip: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Malaria, and Typhoid.

Baggage Allowance

You are allowed to travel with one piece of checked luggage weighing 50 pounds or less and one carry-on.

Keep in mind that carry-on bags must fit under your seat or in the overhead rack.  (A purse or briefcase is not counted as a carry-on).  Also keep in mind that you must keep up with the luggage you check or carry-on.

Dress Standards

If you have decided to join our team, then you have agreed to live within the guidelines of our standards. Please follow the guidelines addressed below.

a)Concerning Women -  We realize that dress/skirt/short lengths are a constant point of controversy, but we do expect that you will have a wardrobe that is consistent with our standards.  We expect your dress/skirt/short length to be no higher than the top of the knee.  We also expect that you will refrain from wearing low-cut necklines, bare midriffs, see-through material, open backs, skin-tight clothing, short shorts, or other revealing type clothing.  Ladies need to pack knee length skirts or dresses, Capri pants, Bermuda shorts, t-shirts, work clothes, tennis shoes, and modest sleepwear. For church on Sunday, Ladies should wear a dress or knee length skirt with a blouse or t-shirt. (No tank tops).

b)Concerning Men - NO EARRINGS, PLEASE. Men need to pack long pants, collared shirts, t-shirts and dress shorts (khaki shorts), work clothes, and tennis shoes. (Modest shorts and t-shirts can be worn during free time at hotel).  For church on Sunday, Men should wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and a shirt with a collar.
